Café Nin
About This Spot
Stepping into Café Nin is like entering a quiet corner of Ciudad de México where time slows just enough to savor its subtle charms. Housed in a beautifully restored historic home, the space carries a gentle warmth — sunlit wooden tables, soft hums of conversation, and the inviting aroma of freshly baked bread weaving through the air. It strikes a balance between lively and intimate, making it a perfect spot for a morning pause or a laid-back afternoon retreat.
The rhythm here feels unhurried, encouraging guests to take their time exploring the menu’s thoughtful blend of traditional flavors and contemporary touches. Whether it’s the comforting richness of a croque madame on perfectly crusty sourdough, or the vibrant play of hues and textures in dishes like chilaquiles paired with creamy burrata, every bite reveals a quiet devotion to quality. The pastries—light, flaky, and welcomingly sweet—arrive warm from the oven, their delicate layers speaking to a craft honed with care.
Beyond the food, Café Nin’s atmosphere is quietly elevated by friendly, attentive service that feels instinctively accommodating, even to those fumbling through a few words of Spanish. It’s a place where locals and travelers alike might linger over a morning mimosa or a rich cup of chocolate caliente, feeling simultaneously connected and cocooned from the city’s bustle.
For those who wander here seeking a genuine moment of calm discovery, Café Nin offers not just a meal but a small ritual — a breathing space filled with the gentle textures of life, good company, and thoughtfully made food that invites you back again and again.

Café Nin is a charming café set in a beautifully restored historic house – the vibe is perfect whether you’re coming for breakfast, brunch, coffee or an afternoon break. The space is lovely and the fresh sweet bread (conchas, cuernitos, etc.) coming straight out of the oven is simply outstanding. Dos: The chicken burger – surprisingly delicious and juicy. Any of the desserts (the pastelería is one of the best in town) Donts: The cheese board, sitting outside if you’re sensitive to street noise/traffic and the service can be a little slow and inattentive on busy

Cafe nin has such a nice atmosphere and has delicious pastries. Be warned: I almost choked on a figurine in my rosca de res that I accidentally ordered.

Upscale and lively spot with a warm vibe. The server was super patient with my broken Spanish, which I really appreciated. The food stood out the most - the eggs came with zucchini blossoms, and the coffee was excellent. The black sourdough bread was also a highlight. Easily the best brunch I had in Mexico City.

This place is always busy because it’s really good food. It’s trendy too so everyone looks really well put together. Service was very friendly and we got sat pretty fast. I’ve been here for breakfast and the wait time can get really long. This time I was here for lunch and the wait was about 15 mins. The price point is like USA prices so plan to pay a bit.

Been here 3 times in 2 weeks. The atmosphere, service and food are great and high quality, baked oats a classic, golden milk heavenly, but I did think the eggs and black mole portion was a little on the small side(the mole was good I wanted more!). That said the ingredients are top notch and the dinner (tagliatelle) is delicious.

Cafe Nin is a must-visit! We went for breakfast and the chilaquiles absolutely hit the spot, wow. The guava roll was out of this world. The food is amazing, the vibes are great, and the service is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Had breakfast on their little terrace, the atmosphere was lovely and very cute! But most importantly, my dish was amazing! I had the mole negro with eggs and it was perfect! So incredibly flavourful, eggs were cooked perfectly with runny yolks and there was also some sort of plantain purée which rounded up the dish. My only criticism is on the chai latte, which I thought was very bland. I wouldn’t order again but I would gladly come back for the food and simply try another drink :)

My girlfriend and I were visiting Mexico City for the first time and happened to be staying in the apartment directly above Café Nin. We originally chose it out of convenience because it was close, but after our first meal, it instantly became our spot. We ended up eating here at least once a day for the entire trip. The food is incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of character. You can taste the intention in every dish. There is a balance of comfort and refinement that makes you feel like this is exactly what food is meant to be. The staff is what truly sets Café Nin apart. From hosts to servers, the communication and attention to detail felt almost military in precision, yet delivered with the warmth of family. They remembered our names, our orders, and even which pastries my girlfriend loved most. We never felt like tourists. They made us feel like we belonged there. By the end of the trip, Café Nin did not feel like a restaurant. It felt like home. If you are visiting Mexico City, do not miss this place. It is the rare combination of excellence, genuine hospitality, and memorable food that stays with you long after you have left.
